Gabriel On their weekly stroll, John Utterson and his cousin Richard Enfield arrive at the front door of a magnificent home. Enfield tells Utterson that he witnessed a sinister-looking man called Edward Hyde trample a little girl after accidently stumbling into her many months ago. To prevent a controversy, Enfield persuaded Hyde to give her family £100. Hyde took Enfield to this door and handed him a cheque written by a renowned gentleman, later revealed to be Utterson's friend and customer, Doctor Henry Jekyll. Utterson is concerned that Hyde is blackmailing Jekyll since Jekyll just modified his will to make Hyde the sole beneficiary. When Utterson attempts to discuss Hyde with Jekyll, Jekyll informs him that he can get rid of Hyde whenever he wants and begs him to drop the subject. Read more
